Six Points Regarding WarfareButton back to previous page

Elder Keith Ellis

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Eph 4:6

Six things are necessary and fundamental in order for any army or soldier to be successful.

1. Know there is a war. Many Christians think their walk in the kingdom is all about having a continual love feast and never understand there is a war taking place. Although it is always desirable to walk in peace and enjoy the love of God, it is not always possible. You are at war. A spiritual war.

2. Know who your enemy is. What made Vietnam so difficult for the Americans, is that the enemy did not always show up in a military uniform waving a flag yelling, I am the enemy. Sometimes the enemy was manifest by way of a bomb strapped to the back of a young child who was sent into the midst of the camp. The same is true in our Christian warfare. The devil can transform himself into an angel of light and appear to be a friend. He can gain your confidence and before you know it, you are in his trap.

3. Become familiar with the enemies devices. Not intimate with them, but familiar. Paul says that we are not ignorant of his devices. Now that we know that the enemy can appear as an angel of light, we should always be on guard to try or test the spirits. Believe not every spirit brethren.

4. Know what weapons you have at your disposal.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Cor 10:3-6

The Whole armor of God, as it is laid out in Ephesians 6:10-20. Ask God how to put it on and use it effectively.

5. Understand what the outcome of the war will bring. This warfare is not the same war and battle that Jesus fought and won on Calvary's cross. The warfare against the devil, sin, death, hell, and the grave, has been fought and won by The Lord Himself. He was completely victorious in that war and it has been accomplished. If you are attempting to fight a battle that Jesus has already fought and won, you are wasting your time and your focus needs to be on the real war, not a diversion.

The warfare that you and I fight is not to defeat the devil from an eternal standpoint, but from a timely perspective. We do not fight in order to get people saved for eternal glory, but in a timely sense only. (Jesus accomplished eternal salvation for all His elect)

We battle the old man, the Adamic nature that we all have. This is the method of entry that the enemy uses to gain entrance into our camp. Understanding this is half the battle friends.

The end we are to accomplish in this war is to bring our bodies under subjection to the teachings of God book, to possess our vessels in honor to the glory and praise of our heavenly Father. To learn to walk after godliness.

Remember the flesh and the spirit are contrary one to another. Feed the spirit, subdue the flesh.

From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members? James 4:1

6.The battleground in inside you.

God give us grace.
