I Timothy 6:16, "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."

This morning, Jesus Christ is the same as He was yesterday. Tomorrow, He will be the same as He is today. This thought comforts us to know that our Saviour has promised us life in His presence eternally. Since He is the only One that has immortality and does not change, then we can rest assured that such will be our state, and the bliss, joy, and happiness will be eternal. Where He dwells is where we will dwell, and while we still sojourn here in body, there is a sense in which we are already there with Him right now. He has raised us up together with Him, and in God's mind and purpose, it is just as good as fulfilled.

The foremost phrase in the verse above that I would like to consider is "dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto." Our Saviour currently sits in heaven at the right hand of the Father. He dwells in this light, and our flesh cannot behold Him in this state of glory and live. We cannot see His face and live to explain it to our brethren. But, let us consider for a moment what His dwelling in this light does for us His brethren. When someone looks through a different coloured light (such as a dark light or red light), the colours appear differently than they do to the naked eye. So, what does this mean?

We have been washed in the blood of our Dear Redeemer. He cleansed us by the shedding of His very own blood which He brought before the altar in the presence of the Father. So, if He currently dwells in that light in the heavenly throneroom, our Father in heaven must look through Him to see us (who are on the right hand of the Saviour). The Father looks through a "red" light since the blood of Jesus covers us completely. It would be like putting on a red shaded spectacle to view something. One might wonder, "What does this have to do with anything?" Well, when looking through a red light things that are red appear WHITE! So, if our Father looks at us through the blood (red) of His Son, He sees us white, which shows our appearance to be holy and without spot.

This current position that Christ occupies in dwelling in this light is one from which He will never be moved. In Hebrews 8:1, we learn that not only is He seated in this position, but He is set there as well. Therefore, we have no fear that He will one day not be covering us with the blood. Finally, if God sees us covered in the blood and showing forth spotless righteousness, then that explains why Paul could declare in Romans 8 that we are "glorified" already. It is not manifestly so to our beholding, but our Father sees it already as the blood adorns our person and shows forth the righteousness of that Perfect Man that was God manifest in the flesh. May we live our lives in such a manner that our outward appearing would show forth what the inward already bears in that seal ever looking unto that glorious day when the picture will appear to us as it already appears to the Lord.
